TOURING FAR NORTH QUEENSLAND - WHERE TO GO AND WHAT TO SEE
After 4 days of knowledge and networking, allow yourself the time to begin your tropical journey of discovery. The city is tucked between two of North Queensland’s greatest natural treasures – the marine playground of the Great Barrier Reef and the World Heritage listed Wet Tropics Rainforest, which means adventure is not far away. Almost 30 boats leave Cairns every day for the reef and in less than an hour you can be snorkelling or diving in Australia’s most spectacular underwater environment. Inland, hike through the sun-dappled forest on the Douglas Track to Glacier Rock, swim in the cascading pools of nearby Crystal Cascades or glide just metres over the canopy of the tropical rainforest on Sky Rail Rainforest Cableway.
Hire a car, four-wheel drive or campervan and hit the road to the hinterlands, rainforests or jump on a boat and head to the Great Barrier Reef, the choices are endless.
Only staying a short time?
Whether you are staying in Cairns, Palm Cove or Port Douglas you can choose one of the many half day or full day tours to the Great Barrier Reef, the Daintree Rainforest, or Kuranda.

Moore Reef is renowned for its incredible hard coral formations and water quality. It is also abundant with marine life, from yellow tail fusiliers who come right up to the pontoons edge, to Giant Trevally and the ever popular Maori Wrasse, affectionately known as “Wally”. Turtles also find perfect conditions at Moore Reef, which is why we have been privileged to have several seriously injured and rescued turtles released back into the wild after they have been rehabilitated at the Fitzroy Island Turtle Rehabilitation Centre.
To visit the rehabilitation centre, book at the resort reception on Fitzroy Island. For transfers to Fitzroy Island book here
